Employee haunts the man who skipped the work because he won the lottery. It turns out he really did!

Election night was especially special for a lottery player in southern California.

Michael Chavez found out he won $ 1.2 million in California Lottery Mega Millions on November 5, 2024, after an employee joked with him to win the draw, reported NBC4 Los Angeles and Sacramento Bee.

“I actually woke up in the middle of the night to check the election results to see who won for president, not mega millions,” Chavez told California Lottery, pr. Outlets.

“I went back to bed without looking at my ticket,” he added.

The next morning, Chavez texted the work to say that he would not come that day and an employee replied that it was because he had won the lottery, NBC4 Los Angeles reported.

“He fooled me if the reason I wasn’t at work was because I had won the million,” Chavez said.

He added that his employee “even jokingly congratulated me” and sent him a screenshot of the Mega Million results via text, per. NBC4 Los Angeles.

Chavez finally decided to check his lottery ticket and then discovered he had matched five of the six winning numbers – and won him a price of $ 1,214,818, according to Outlet.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said the lucky winner reportedly. “I am so excited and extremely grateful.”

Chavez credited his colleague to remind him Sacramento Bee.

The store received a bonus of over $ 6,000 to sell the winning ticket, KTLA reported.

“I will never forget about election night or especially that text,” said Chavez, pr. NBC4 Los Angeles.
