59 PSG -Fans arrested before the Champions League -Association – DW – 01/29/2025

Police in Germany on Wednesday arrested 59 Paris Saint-Germain fans ahead of an Evening Champions League match planned against VFB Stuttgart.

Police said there was evidence that fans of both teams were planning to fight each other outside the stadium.

What Stuttgart -Police have said

“Tuesday before the match #vfbpsg, 59 French hooligans were taken into custody in the urban area. The measure was taken after consultation with a judge to prevent serious riots,” the Stuttgart police said in a statement published on Social Media Platform X.

Police said that “Hooligans from Paris – including Ring leaders – traveled to Stuttgart together without tickets” and that some of those taken into custody had items to cover their faces.

Police said they would remain in custody until Thursday morning

“Anyone traveling to Stuttgart to commit violent crimes from the field will be taken out of the game,” said police vice president Carsten Höfler.

‘High-risk’ Stuttgart fans banned from center

Fifty-seven “high-risk” Stuttgart fans who allegedly tried to fight against the visitors of visitors were banned from the city center and the bad Cannstatt neighborhood where Stuttgarts Stadium is located.

Police said some of these fans had tried to spy on the opposition team’s supporters and that some of them were carrying weapons.

On Tuesday, Stuttgart and Saint-Etienne fans already tried to fight with PSG Hooligans, but they were captured by police at train stations and hotels.
