Pacers’ Andrew Nembhard, Bennedict Mathurin Out against Stamps

Indianapolis-Pacers guards Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin are both out for Wednesday’s match against the stamps, coach Rick Carlisle said at his press conference before the game.

Nembhard was listed as questionable with a thorax spine displacement, and Mathurin was a late addition to the injuries with a disease. Carlisle said Nembhard’s back flared up in Pacers’ fight against Spurs in Paris on Saturday, and he said the flight did not help. He said Mathurin wasn’t doing well Wednesday, and when he came to the team’s review before the game it got worse and Mathurin left the building. Carlisle said he suspects it is a non-kovid disease, but can’t say with certainty because they don’t know much about it at this point.

Nembhard and Mathurin are Pacers’ starters at the shooting guard and small forward respectively, so the losses are obviously expensive. Nembhard is an average of 10.6 points and 5.2 assists per day. Match this season and has been the team’s best defender at Ball, who hurts Pacers against Piston’s and All-Star candidate Cade Cunningham.

“It’s a huge loss for this game for obvious reasons,” Carlisle said. “But we will have to find out. That’s why you have to build a list of depth and our depth will have to get through for us.”

Mathurn has greatly improved his defense and is still so dynamic of a goal scorer, which he always has an average of 16.4 points per year. Fight to go with 5.9 rebounds.

The damage is likely to lead to the promotion of wings Ben Sheppard and Aaron Nesmith for the starting lineup. Nesmith was the start that started in most of last season, and the first six games this season until a sprained left ankle cost him 35 games. Sheppard has started eight games in the past two seasons. The injuries also probably mean several minutes for Jarace Walker, who has played just over 25 minutes in the last three games with Nesmith and Mathurin both available.
