Marc-Andre Fleury starts one last time in Montreal

Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynnes said Marc-Andre Fleury will start against Montreal Canadiens Thursday for what will be his last time in Montreal.

Fleury, 40, was born in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, about an hour north of Montreal. There is no doubt that he will be honored during the game.

The last time Fleury was in Montreal, he received a standing ovation in Wild’s 5-2 win in October 2023.

Now Fleury has made it clear that this is his last year before he retires. So unless Canadiens and The Wild meet in the Stanley Cup final this year, this will be Fleury’s last match in Montreal.

In his career in the Bell Center, where Montreal plays, Fleury is 12-6-3 with a 2.67 goal against average, .911 savings percentage and two shutouts in 21 matches.
