Refund status appears in 24 hours if you archived a current year’s tax return. For a previous year, if you e-film your tax return, the status of three to four days will appear. If you paper filed your tax returns, your return status will appear in four weeks.

There are different stages within your refund status. “Returns are received,” which means the IRS is currently being received and processing your return. The status “Refund approved” means exactly what the IRA approved your tax refund and issued on the date shown. “Refund Sent” is the status phase where the IRS sends return to your bank, where it will appear five days to appear in your bank account, or in the mail where it may take several weeks to arrive.
