Defense Agent puts the celebration of Martin Luther King’s birthday, Women’s History Month and others

The Pentagon Intelligence Agency has been breaking a break in Pride Month, Black History Month, Martin Luther King’s birthday, Holocaust Days of Remembrance, Juneteenth and other annual cultural events as federal agencies shrink to try to comply with President Trump’s rejection of diversity programs.

Defense Intelligence Agency on Tuesday released a memo for its workforce with a subject line of “Pause on special weight programs and related activities and events.”

“We receive questions across the workforce on the way,” the note said. It added that the agency would “pause all activities and events related to the agency’s special weight programs that are immediately effective and so far.”

The agency’s break is in effect “so far,” the note said. It said the directive would not affect compliance with federal holidays, so presumably the agency’s staff would still have Martin Luther King’s birthday and Juneteenth off, provided they remain federal holidays.

The break came when defense secretary Pete Hegeth on Wednesday announced a new task force that targeted the diversity of diversity in Pentagon campaigns and job assignments, the latest maneuver in the Trump administration’s dismissal of “Wokeness.”

In a memo for senior Pentagon management, Mr. Hegeth, that diversity, justice and inclusion policies were “incompatible with the values” of the Department of Defense.

The Task Force will issue a final report on how to get rid of diversity programs by June 1st, Mr. Hegeth in the note.
