Detroit Lions reportedly lose another coach.

Connor Hughes By SNY reported Friday that the New York Jets are expected to hire lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand as their new offensive coordinator. Engstrand is definitely a well -known name for the new jet’s main coach Aaron Glenn after their shared time at Dan Campbell’s staff in Detroit.

Hughes noted that New York was trying to hire Los Angeles Ram’s tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Nick Caley as his “top option” but was rejected.

Jets were apparently not the only ones interested in Caley, which Hughes pointed out will “have other options.” He too reported New York will retain the broad recipient coach Shawn Jefferson after blocking interview requests about him around the league.

As for the departure of Engstrand, this is Another loss For the Lions staff.

Glenn became the head coach of Jets, while offensive coordinator Ben Johnson became the head coach of division rival Chicago Bears.

Elsewhere, the defensive line trainer Terrell Williams went to New England Patriots like DC, wide recipients -trainer Antwaan Randle El went to the bears in the same position, assistant quarterbacks -coach JT Barrett went to Chicago when Quarterbacks -trainer and tight ends -trainer steve Heiden became jets offensive line trainer.

It is right the turnover of a franchise that has turned himself under the head coach Dan Campbell and become one of the league’s best teams.

New York is looking for a similar turn with Engstrand as its offensive coordinator.

The 2024 season was his fifth at Detroit’s staff and secondly as the passing gaming coordinator. Lions ended its first season in the role of the League of passers -by yards on the way to the NFC Championship Game and its second season in the role second in the league again on the way to the conference No. 1 seed.

Players like Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Sam Laporta thrived during his coaching, and he will look to help Jets’ playmakers unlock similar production.

There are still a number of questions to be answered in New York, not least Aaron Rodgers will be back on quarterback, but the team knows at least who and will be after this step.
