Dave Portnoy Heart Bridge over unexpected death by bar stool employee

A young bar stool employee died at the age of 28, revealed Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy on Thursday.

Iga Obrycka, who was the general manager of Barstool Nashville, died this week “suddenly” according to Portnoy.

An online obituary said This obrycka had died Wednesday in Nashville and no cause of death was given.

“Iga basically drove our bar group for us,” Portnoy wrote on x. “If you ever went to Barstool Nashville, you probably saw her there. I would have hired her for every position she wanted in our company because she was so smart and driven. Just incredibly sad news and another cruel reminder not to take a minute for granted. RIP IGA. “

In addition to her role with Barstool Nashville, she was Chief Marketing Officer at Stanton & Bowery Hospitality Group according to her social media.

Obrycka came to the United States in the early 2000s after being born in Poland.

She was raised in New York City and moved to Nashville in 2020, reported the Daily Mail, and she spent almost nine years working for Tao Group Hospitality.

After moving to Nashville, she eventually opened Barstool Nashville in 2023.

“We lost the leader, the heart and the soul of Barstool Nashville, Iga Obrycka. Our heart goes out to her family, the ones she was born in, and those of us, she chose to be in her life. There will never be someone else like her and she will always be with us, ” A tribute to Barstool Nashville’s Instagram page read.

She was also praised as a “lamp of kindness and generosity” and that her “sudden passersby created a deeply empty space in any soul with which she came in contact.”

Barstool Sports suffered yet another sad departure after Jonathan Stanko lost his battler with cancer earlier this month at the age of 32.
