Warner Bros. says it’s all people to Multiversus: The next season will be its last but you will be able to play offline ‘in a foreseeable future’

Earlier today, WB play advertised on x That the game’s fifth season beginning next week on February 4th will “earn as the last update.” It will be brought offline and delisted from digital stores when the season ends on May 30, but WB Games says “Players will be able to enjoy the game offline in the foreseeable future.”

In one Blog posts WB Games, which provides additional details about the last days of Multiversus, says Season 5’s new characters, Aquaman and Lola Bunny, will still be run as Battle Pass and Login Rewards. From today, however, real money transactions are disabled.

To keep everything you bought or earned in the game for use in offline games after the servers are closed on May 30, start the game at least once during the last season. “After logging, a local saved file is automatically connected to your PlayStation Network, Microsoft Store, Steam or Epic Games Store account, so you can enjoy the game offline with all earned and purchased content that goes on,” says WB Games.

As for why Multiversus shuts down, the new Season 5 -Section of Multiversus FAQ page have this to say:

Why is season 5 the last season for Multiversus?

This decision was not made easy. All of us on the player’s first game and Warner Bros. Games teams have put our heart and soul into Multiversus, creating a unique social and collaborative experience from scratch that brings together a number of popular characters and worlds. We are very proud of the game we have built and are incredibly grateful for the support of the Multiversus community throughout this trip. Your passion and enthusiasm have been unmatched.

Not exactly an answer, but the characters had been in this direction for a while. In November, Warner said Bros. Discovery Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Wiedenfels in a company’s financial call that it was “primarily Multiversus” that owes a $ 100 million write -down, composing the $ 200 million annual losses WB had already suffered in the suicide team.

On the same call, Warner said Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav that WB would shift his focus to “core franchises”, which he identified as DC (“especially Batman”), Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat and Game of Thrones. The outlook for Multiversus began to look increasingly bleak when the WB game announced that it ended ongoing support for Suicide Squad less than a month later, with 99 WB game Montreal staff dismissed in demand.

Since the original launch in July 2022, the Multiversus story has been a roller coaster. The game then disappeared for over a year when its only sign of life was promotional stickers in Belgian branches of McDonald’s. UPS-and-downs continued with a possible May 2024 relaunch that attracted over 100,000 steam players, which were followed by a wave of screams when “a bug” got players who struggled with their highest campaign state, difficulty in buying more lives with Real money.

Despite the fact that whiplash lasted across its lifetime, we have always been fond of Multiversus, and not only because it realized the horrible majesty of the ultra-instinct lurv. We called it “pretty damn well” in our original multiversity review and considered it “definitely worth giving a new fight” in the driveway for its return.

Soon, however, Multiversus will participate in this honored Pantheon of Defunct Battle Games, which is endured through informal matches in Evo hotel rooms. Good night, sweet banana protection.
