A medical transport aircraft has crashed in Philadelphia with six people on board. Here’s what we know

A small medical transport aircraft has crashed into a residential area in northeastern Philadelphia seting home and vehicles on fire.

What happened?

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the medical transport beam went from the northeastern Philadelphia Airport at. 18.06, local time, on the way to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.

The aircraft quickly disappeared from radar after starting and climbing to a height of 1,600 feet. It was reportedly airborne for only approx. 30 seconds before it fell from the sky.

It crashed at a busy intersection near Roosevelt Mall, an outdoor shopping mall with dozens of shops and restaurants in the residential quarters of Rhawnhurst.

How many people were on the plane?

The medical transport beam wore a child patient, her mother and four others.

The child had been treated in Philadelphia for a life-threatening state and was transported home, according to Jet Rescue spokesman Shai Gold.

Mrs. Gold told the local broadcaster NBC that the child’s treatment was sponsored by a third-party charity.

“She did her care. She was going home, ”she said.

“She struggled a lot to survive, and unfortunately this tragedy happened (happened) on her way home.”

A spokesman from Shriners Children’s Philadelphia Hospital told NBC that the girl was one of its patients. The hospital said it was the “heart bridge” of the news.

The final destination of the aircraft should have been Tijuana after a stop in Missouri.

All six people on board were from Mexico.

The company said that no names of the people involved would be released until family members were notified.

“When an incident like this happens, it’s shocking and surprising,” Gold told Associated Press.

“All planes are maintained. Not a penny is spared because we know our mission is so critical.”

How many people are dead?

It is not yet known.

However, Pennsylvania -Governor Josh Shapiro said at a news conference late on Friday, local time that officials expected deaths in the “horrible aviation disaster.”

“We know there will be losses,” he said.

Jet Rescue was also unable to confirm if there were any survivors.

There has been no immediate word about whether anyone on earth was killed.

What type of aircraft crashed into Philadelphia?

ONE Learjet 55 As according to data from Flightradar24 had been in service for 43 years and was registered in Mexico.

The aircraft is owned by Jet Rescue Air ambulance registered in the US and Mexico.

The company describes itself as “Mexico’s leading, largest and most experienced aerambulance service” and is allegedly specialized in the transport of pediatric patients.

Its fleet includes 10 Learjets and an Airbus helicopter.

Who is looking for the investigation?

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation of the incident.

Shapiro added that 45 state troops were on the ground and helped local law enforcement.
