WSDOT and Sound Transit closures this weekend in Seattle

There are several road and transit closures in the Seattle area this weekend.

Boylston Avenue closures

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is starting to install a new noise wall at the southern end of Seattle’s ship channel bridge over the weekend. In early October, WSDOT began to clear trees and prepare the area next to Interstate-5 (I-5) that closed the Boylston Avenue East Off ramp. Over the weekend, WSDOT closes the same off-ramp as well as the right track in I-5 South leading up to Boylston Avenue East Off-Ramp, near Milepost 168.

The closures are needed to give contractors plenty of room to safely operate a crane used to set the panels, some of which are 36 meters high. WSDOT installs this noise wall to reduce the roar from traffic coming from the I-5 Express lanes adjacent to the Eastlake neighborhood.

Cliff Messe: Get ready for snow in PNW this weekend

Work is scheduled to start at. 22, Friday to 7 p.m. 05.00, Monday and can end early if the project works seamlessly. For those who need to access Eastlake or go east over the East Roanoake Street transition on I-5, a detour will first guide drivers to Mercer Street off ramp and then north of the Eastlake neighborhood.

Audio Transit 1-Linje Disturbance

This is the 4th weekend out of 6 scheduled weekend disorders at ST’s 1-line service in Seattle. During these station closures, the ST crews work on the connection to 2-line over Lake Washington. This weekend, passengers have to plan around the closures of the University District, the University of Washington and Capitol Hill Stations. ST buses will shuttle passengers between the stations running every 10-15 minutes. It is critical for passengers to be careful about messages about station and destination signs on the tracks to make sure they board the right train. There will be plenty of ST staff on hand to answer any questions.
