Chicago Airport News: American Airlines Plan Strikes United Tug in O’Hare International Airport, Driver Critically Wounded: CPD

Chicago (WLS) – The driver of a plane moon was critically wounded as the vehicle turned around after colliding with a plane on Saturday at O’Hare Airport.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. 18:58 in the 0-100 block by West Twya Street at O’Hare, said Chicago police.

A United Airlines Tug came into contact with the wing of an aircraft when it tried to cross the taxi, officials said. American Airlines confirms it was one of their aircraft, an Air Wisconsin flight that had just landed in Chicago from Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The driver of the tug was attached under the vehicle as it turned over due to the collision.

The driver, a 64-year-old man, was taken to the Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition with head and lower body injuries, but he was stabilized, police said in Chicago.

The accident delayed passengers from getting away from the aircraft, no reported on any damage to the aircraft. Officials also said there was no significant impact on airport operations.

Chicago Department of Aviation released the following statement:

“About 7 pm Saturday, a towing vehicle contacted Air Wisconsin Flight 6181 in O’Hare International Airport. No damage to the aircraft was reported and passengers were transported to the terminal. There was no significant impact on airport operations.”

American Airlines issued the following statement:

“After safe landing in Chicago O’Hare International Airport (word), American Eagle Flight 6181, operated by Air Wisconsin from Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) for words, came in contact with a tug at an active taxi. Nothing is more important than the security of our customers and team members and we are reviewing this incident.

United Airlines issued the following statement:

“On Saturday night, a United Tug on O’Hare came in contact with another airline’s aircraft while it was a taxi. The united employee was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and we ensure that he receives any necessary support and care.”

No further information was immediately available.
