Cavaliers scores 91 points in the first half against Mavericks after Doncic -handel

Clevleand (AP) – Cavaliers ran up on the scoring of the undermanned Mavericks.

Cleveland scored 91 point-matched the third most in a first half of the NBA history-Sunday, opening a 45-point lead at Dallas, who played his first game since trading with superstar Luka Doncic for Los Angeles Lakers.

Cavs set several franchise items, including points in a quarter with 50 in the first one. Cleveland’s 45-point lead was also the largest in club history in half. Cavs also bundled their record for 3-Pointers in half with 16.

Mavericks lacked not only Doncic, but three other starters, including All-Star Guard Kyrie Irving, sitting out with a sore shoulder.

Phoenix Suns set the record for points in the first half with 107 against Denver on November 10, 1990. The Golden State Warriors fell 92 at Chicago in 2018, and Houston Rockets scored 91 against Brooklyn in 2022.

Cavs showed no grace over Dallas, making 9 of 11 3s in the first quarter while opening a 31-point lead. Cleveland made seven more behind the arch in the second quarter and ended 16 of 22 (73%) in 3s in half.

Darius Garland scored 17 points before the break, while colleague All-Stars Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell added 15 and 12 points for Cavs respectively, who got ranked second in the scoring and first in 3-point percentage.
