ForbesNew ‘Connections’ Today: Tip and Response to Sunday 2nd February

Hi, everyone! Welcome to the start of a new week.

Many readers have told me that they were reading this column just to find out how I got on with every game, even if they don’t need any tips on a given day. I appreciate that deeply! Thank you for coming by. I get it, I’m always curious about how other people also work through each game.

But writing out my thought process is not something I’ve always done. Every time I solved algebra equations or something similar in high school, I just wanted to find out in my head and write down the answer. Teachers would punish me for not having written every step, but it always annoyed me. To write everything out when I knew the answer just seemed like unnecessary work.

But hey, Connections is a fun game and I really enjoy sharing how I solved (or didn’t do it!) Every grid.

Before we begin, I have created a discussion group to Connections and this column On disagreement. You can chat about every game (and other topics) with me and other people. I am always interested in finding out how other people are approaching the game, so be with us! It’s funny.

It is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (!) Events that I root.

Today’s New Connections Tips and answers for Monday, February 3rd are coming right up.

How to Play Connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times Daily word games. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on New Website or game -app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them in four groups of four by finding out the connections between them. The groups can be things like topics you can click on, names for participants in research studies or words prior to a body part.

There is only one solution for each puzzle and you have to be careful when it comes to words that may fit into more than one category. You can mix the words to maybe help you see connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to find out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often involves word games.

Choose four words you think go together and press send. If you guess and you’re wrong you lose a life. If you are close to having a correct group, you can see a message that tells you that you are a word away from getting it right, but you still need to find out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s played over. Let’s make sure it doesn’t happen using some tips and if you really fight it is the day’s Connections Answer. As with Wordle And other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have a New All access or play subscription you can access the publication Connections File. This includes every previous game of ConnectionsSo you can go back and play some of the ones you’ve missed.

Apart from the first 60 matches or so, you should be able to find my tips for each grid via Google if you need them! Just Click here And add the date of the game that you need clues or the answers to the search queries.

Need a little extra help?

Stay warned: We’re starting to get in on Spoiler territory.

Today’s Connections Groups are …

  • Yellow Group – Comment after an insult
  • Green Group – Small amount, with “A”
  • Blue Group – Lit of Citrus decorations
  • Purple Group – Bungle, with “Up”

What are today’s connections answer?

Spoiler Alert! No longer roll down the page before you are ready to find out the day’s Connections Answer.

This is your last warning!

Today’s Connections The answers are …

  • Yellow Group – Comment after an insult (Burn, Ouch, Snap, Zing)
  • Green Group – Small Amount, With “One” (Bit, Small, Mide, Billy)
  • Blue Group – a little citrus decoration (slice, twist, wedge, zest)
  • Purple Group – Bungle, with “Up” (Foul, Louse, Muck, Screw)

No perfect game today, but my overall line is up to 21 wins. This is how I managed:

I was on the right way with the green, but included slice instead of mite (which I initially thought would go with Louse, but it turned out to be a red herring). My second guess was also close to blues: slice, wedge, zing and zest. It was also one away from a group.

From there I was able to decode the green, then blues. The yellow then became clear. It was good for me because I am not sure I would have got purple otherwise.

I’ve never once heard the phrase “louse up.” Foul up, muck up and turn up, absolutely, I all know them. However, Louse Up seemed incredibly stranger to me. I had to look it up and definitely it is in the dictionary. It turns out that someone does not “f” up here, but “whine up” a strange way of expressing that mood.

Too here, I just learned my new favorite insult – “Your level of understanding on this topic ended some time ago.” It seems that such a cut, effective way to close someone who has no idea what they are talking about. I’ll give you that for free.

That’s all that is for that for the day’s Connections tracks and answers. Be sure to check out my blog tomorrow for tips and solution for Tuesday’s games if you need them.

PS okay i lied. I would recommend two more house songs to wrap this little dance theme week (or eight days). How could I possibly have drop in music from French house artists and not mention the greatest of the time, Daft Punk?

I’ve recommended a few versions of “One More Time” in the past, so I don’t do that again (tempted as I might be). Instead, let’s do with it also “digital love” because we could all spend some extra love on a Monday:

Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk, was also one of the three members of Stardust, arguably the best one hit widow ever. “Music sounds better with you” is the only songstardust ever released and it’s just amazing:

Have a nice day! Become hydrated! Call someone you love!
