Browns Star will have out of Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns May be in an even bigger seasonal overhaul than they had originally imagined.

Defensive end Myles Garrett Monday requested a trade from the organization.

“As a kid who dreamed of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a super bowl – and this goal burns me today more than ever,” Garrett wrote in a statement. “My love of society in northeastern ohio and the incredible fanbase of Cleveland Browns have taken this to one of the toughest decisions of my life. The last eight years have shaped me into the man I am today.

“While I have loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete at the biggest phases does not allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it’s always been to compete for and win a super bowl.

“With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from Cleveland Browns.”

Garrett, 29, arrived in Cleveland as No. 1 Selection of 2017 NFL Draft. He has collected 102 ½ sacks in eight years and earned six Pro Bowl bunks and four All-Pro Nods while taking the NFL Defensive Player of the Year home in 2023.

Browns ended 3-14 in 2024, just one year after making a final game for the second time in Garrett’s tenure. Garrett said the year was even more a lightdown than when Cleveland ended 0-16 in his rookie campaign.

“It’s probably a more disappointing season because of what we expected out of ourselves,” Garrett said after the season finale, a 35-10 loss to Baltimore Ravens.

Will Browns Handle Myles Garrett? GM Andrew Berry said earlier no

Garrett’s request for public trade puts General Manager Andrew Berry in an awkward position.

Berry told three Browns beat writers last week that the team would reject trading offers to Garrett, even though they led to two drafts of the first round.

“Correct,” Berry replied. “You can put it on the record.”
