Ruairi McConville: Norwich signs Northern Ireland’s defender from Brighton

Norwich City has signed Northern Ireland’s defender Ruairi McConville from Brighton & Hove Albion for a non -published fee.

The 19-year-old’s only senior performance for the seagulls came as a replacement in their 4-0 FA Cup victory on Carrow Road on January 11.

But after coming through the youth levels with Northern Ireland, Centerback won its first international cap against Belarus last November.

“Ruairi will play regular senior football and establish himself,” said Brighton Technical Director David Weir.

“The offer from Norwich City is very good for the club and gives Ruairi that opportunity and we wish him good luck for the future.”

McConville has signed a long -term contract with the Canary Solar Roads to drive until the summer of 2030.

“After talking to Johannes (Hoff Thorup) and seen how he plays, we are both ambitious and have the same goals,” he told the Norwich site.

“I’m excited about working with him, and hopefully we can get back in the Premier League.”

Norwich is currently eighth in the championship after Saturday’s win over Watford, only two points outside the playoffs.
