EA prepares social test for new battlefield play as it follows Skate’s lead

3rd February 2025, 08:30 pst Community Testing Initiative Battlefield Labs has now been confirmed and a brief gameplay mounting of the new Battlefield game has been revealed.

We’ve been waiting eagerly for news the next Battlefield Play for quite a long time now, but it’s just changed. Back in September, EAS Vince Zampella, who took over the series after his work with Respawn Entertainment on Titanfall and Apex Legends, revealed some initial details. Along with the confirmation that the currently non-titled new battlefield game returns to a modern surroundings after yo-yo back and forth between Battlefield 1 and V’s 2nd World War and the near future of Battlefield 2042, he also mentioned plans for a Community Test Program. Now the publisher has revealed a short excerpt of early gameplay and fully revealed Battlefield Labs, its huge initiative before launching.

Although we do not yet know what the follow-up to Battlefield 2042 will be called, Zampella also noted last year that the controversial specialist system “will not come back” and that the focus is on more concentrated 64 player shortly after negative reaction to the overwhelming scale of 2042’s 128-player battle. He also teased that the intention was to follow in the footsteps of colleague upcoming PC game skate with a community test program.

This program has now been confirmed to be Battlefield Labs. Described as a “new development initiative where players will test specific focus areas in the game” prior to launch, Labs will be a closed environment. While the Battlefield series has completed the test before release in the past, this is its greatest push that will still contain more content than ever.
