Walter explained to Shepherd that the “Sister Act 2” actor often goes to work with a “monologue or sermon”, adding that Ralph has a strong feeling of myself and is a “loving” person. The two share a strong bond on sets, but Walter revealed that Ralph until recently had never seen Walter in his comic element. The actor “Parent Trap” admitted that her standup is not necessarily family friendly and said she was “nervous” to make her co-star see her perform.

“My standup is a bit raw,” she admitted. “I wouldn’t necessarily invite a Sheryl Lee Ralph.”

When Ralph got wind that Walter performed in Philadelphia, she jumped by the chance to support her friend, Walter said. Walter worried that Ralph’s appearance would be more like having a “parent” or “referee-y-tante” that emerges on your performance, but her comedy set went very well.

A few weeks later, Ralph suggested that she record the performance as a special one. Before then, Walter had never recorded his performance for “for whatever reason,” but Ralph doubled on his original proposal.

This moment was the spark that made them create a new production company together, called “Work Wives Productions,” Walter said.

“When you put women together, it’s not something we can’t do,” Shepherd said.
