Spurs are looking forward to ‘exciting offense’ with de’aaron -fox

Memphis – Buzz around San Antonio’s Trade for Point Guard de’Aaron Fox cut through Grogginess and Morning Cool Monday at the team’s shots.

When Spurs Star Center Victor Wembanyama lifted one-legged 3-Pointers from the wing, general manager Brian Wright found a seat court. Under the basket sat acting Spurs -head coach Mitch Johnson with Harrison Barnes to choose his brain about Fox, who was his teammate for six seasons in Sacramento.

“Even when there is so much talk about Victor, the timeline, winning and development and this development that we have all reviewed, this league sometimes dictates the capacity or opportunity that you can do in the big picture,” Johnson said. “When you add a player like de’aaron fox and you already have a strong foundation, there will be opinions and expectations that come with it what it means what the timeline is. We get into it but we will not Beat you away from reality by adding good players and things that come with it.

San Antonio officially acquired FOX on Monday as part of a three-team commerce involving multiple players and draft elections, giving Spurs an all-star guard and clutching in Fox to pair next to a generation talent in Wembanyama, the reigning NBA-rookie of the year ready to make its all-star debut later this month. Wright and San Antonio’s brass pulled the deal without surrendering veteran Chris Paul, Barnes or any appreciated young prospects such as rookie -guard Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan or Keldon Johnson.

In Fox, Spurs adds a quick downhill that ranks fourth in total points as you record drive this season. San Antonio also now has a potentially unstoppable pick-and-roll combination with Fox and Wembanyama. According to other spectrum data, Fox has an average of 1.13 points per Direct choices as a ball handler on pick-and-rolls, sixth best in NBA. Wembanyama, meanwhile, has an average of 1.16 points per Direct choices like screener on pick-and-rolls, number two in the league.

Fox, 27, average 25.0 points, 6.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds and has ranked in the top three each of the last three seasons in the field dimensions in coupling time. The spurs are 9-11 in coupling time games.

“Who do you stop between these two?” Vassell asked, just as the shooting in -wrapped wrapped. “I think we will play much faster and we will be out in transition then you have me and (Julian) Champagne and certain shooting games around. And kind of changes the pace of the game.

That’s exactly what Barnes explained to Mitch Johnson when the shot began.

After their conversation, Barnes laughed when asked if he and Johnson had already been prepared schemes to include the club’s new acquisition.

“It’s always good to just share knowledge,” Barnes said. “Obviously, (Johnson) has a perspective as a competitor playing against him. I have the experience of being a teammate with him. So (it’s all about) mixing it in with NBA: Things change fast , and you must be able to adapt and adapt.

The spurs have lost six of their previous nine matches that enter Monday’s excursion at Memphis and are 12 at the Western Conference. The addition of Fox means that one of San Antonio’s regular starters is likely to be referred to a bench role.

Johnson said Paul and Fox can exist together in the starting lineup. If Spurs go that direction, Castle becomes a reserve after starting in 29 games like a rookie.

“The basketball speaks for himself. He is an elite point guard, elite player in this league, dynamic goal scorer. He is an amazing person, a family man, a Texas child. More importantly, I think he is a person With a high grade.

Fox is expected to join the team in Atlanta before Wednesday’s match against Hawks, according to sources that added that it still needs to be decided whether the Point Guard will make his Spur’s debut back then.

“I know the trade has been announced by all teams, but you still just need to get all of them, I am dotted and t is crossed,” Johnson said. “If there is an opportunity for de’aaron and Jordan (McLaughlin) to meet us in Atlanta and be ready to go, they are ready to go. They are in season. There is no concern about ramping up, conditioning Or what not.

“We know there will be a runway to learn our program and terminology. There will be some patience and some excitement on both sides from the group here waiting for them and then joining the group. It just will be something , we work through and try to speed up as much as possible without having plenty of exercise time.

It’s not a problem for Barnes that said “the basketball part will be easy” in Fox’s transition to San Antonio, after spending his entire eight-year career leading Kings.

“Basketball speaks for himself,” Barnes said. “He is an elite point guard, elite player in this league, dynamic goal scorer. He is an amazing person, a family man, a Texas child. More important is, I think he is an individual high character. One of those Things I was most impressed with when I first came (to San Antonio) were all who were high in this organization, from above and down.

Meanwhile, in Sacramento, King’s interim coach Doug Christie understood too well what Fox experienced Monday after he had also been traded the middle season by Sacramento, where he spent most of his career career.

“Ever since the first time I saw him playing, (I) was a big time fan, and this doesn’t change anything as far as always rooted for him,” Christie said before Monday’s match against Minnesota. “I told him so much.”

The deal was another shaker after coach Mike Brown’s firing for a team that struggled to make the Western Conference play. Christie said he had conversations with a few of the team’s younger players to navigate the business side of trades.

“I wanted to tell them I’m here for you, your teammates are here for you,” Christie said. “That’s part of what this is. You’re not out there all alone.”
