Memphis Grizzlies’ GG Jackson shows the offensive potential in Spurs -Sejr

The time was about to settle.

Memphis Grizzlies had anything but putting a bow on a smooth victory over San Antonio Spurs Monday night. Grizzlies reserves joined the team that coasted a double-digit lead.

A rebound found the hands of Yuki Kawamura for defense. He launched a pass down the floor to a wide open GG Jackson.

Nothing but air was between Jackson and the edge. The second year’s tips dribbled, took a flight and threw a wind turbine dunk with 22 seconds back to the last points in Grizzlies’ 128-109 victory.

“I don’t know if Taylor Jenkins wanted him to score there, but it was worth it,” Jaylen Wells said.

“He should have supported it,” said yes Morant.

Maybe the real acting for Jackson was to pull out the ball, but the throw felt like a perfect ending to his best game in his short season to date. Jackson finished with 27 points on 11-for-20 from the bench.

Jackson has only played eight matches after an offseason -foot surgery forced him to miss the first 42 games of the season.

“Really my first injury ever, who took me away from the sport, certainly a lot of mental lapses, a lot of mental blows,” Jackson said. “When God is No. 1, he can lead your way.”

Bench spark plugs

Santi Aldama has been Grizzlies’ best bench score piece for most of the season. When he is not playing his best, Memphis has been able to turn to Scotty Pippen Jr., Jay Huff, Luke Kennard and an abundance of others.

Jackson adds an element of potential that is different from any of these players. On 6-foot-9 he moves like a guard, but he gets stronger after adding £ 15. Jackson especially drove to the edge on Monday against 220 pounds of Spurs Frem Keldon Johnson and moved him under the edge while finishing a strong two -handed finish.

“He certainly felt that shock,” Jackson said. “I am surprised a little when I drive to the basket. I feel like this extra has added a little bit of threats. Hopefully it can make me free caste line easier.”

This strength was balanced with four made 3-points on nine attempts. GG Jackson scored the dribbler, made the spot-up 3-pointers and attack the edge aggressively.

To find the defensive push

Jackson’s increased opportunity came partly because of Brandon Clarke and Desmond course missing Monday’s game. Bane and Clarke are not expected to be out for a long time, plus Vince Williams Jr. And Marcus Smart is close to return.

In order for Jackson to live on the floor, he will have to bring energy and intensity to the defensive end.

Jackson showed flashes of being the player against spurs. He had three steals and got defensive tasks against some of the top Spurs scorers.

“I feel a little better from last year,” Jackson said. “One of the most important things I’ve tried to work on is when I’m in the holes and recognizes when he picks up the ball to pass it.”

Leading the prayer

A medical emergency before Grizzlies’ games against Spurs led to a court fan who needed CPR. Games were delayed and the players had to return to their dressing room.

Before Grizzlies played, went to the dressing room, hanging up near the bench and saying a prayer. It was Jackson who led the team in prayer in the emotional moment.

“My first instinct was to go directly in prayer,” Jackson said. “Fortunately, all the guys were on the same side. Yes and the jar, they hugged us together, we said a quick prayer. Fortunately, God came in and put a calm at everyone in the arena.”
