Malden, Mo. (KBSI) – A widespread flood over the FOX 23 area.

Many people in the area say the rain makes roads scary to drive on. Motorists who encourage other driver to be careful.

Rising water takes over the fields in southeastern Missouri, which also covers highways and backwards.

At Malden, Water rises at Walmart -Parking Square.

Mayor Denton Kooyman says he wants to make sure everyone is safe. He reaches the school’s superintendent to make sure bus drivers have a plan.

“I know our most important move is flooded, the sides rise, so it gets pretty bad. More neighborhoods are getting bad. The school superintendent called our police chief to try to check the weather and weigh. Concerned about school buses that go in and out in certain areas, ”Kooyman said.

Mayor Kooyman also remained in close contact with the police chief, who is also director of public security. The chief says that keeping an eye on the weather is his least favorite part of his job as it is always unpredictable.

“Tornadoes, heavy weather and so. Because you can’t predict storms. So he monitors the streets. He gives us updates all the time. At certain points, certain points were higher than others and they have gone back now. But he is worried because it is going to rain all night, ”Kooyman said.

Emergency staff say they can’t emphasize it enough, never try to drive through high water, turn around and not drown.

“We had no reports of accidents yet. We had a car over at Howard. I think it flooded to go into an area that they thought wasn’t so deep and it was pretty deep. So. And when one sectional road, it picks up a lot. People are stuck there all the time.

Emergency helpers say they treated more accidents tonight and advise others if you don’t have to drive to stay home.
