Asu’s Path, Oct Holy War, Texas exposure

The Big 12 reviewed almost 100 versions of his football plan 2025 before settling on the final edition.

The (unofficial) above/below was 150.

After all, it is hardly easy to make a nine-game schedule for 16 teams spread over four time zones with permanent opponent rotations, already existing contracts that are not conference, and a desire for competitive balance.

Before we throw ourselves into the weeds of the schedule, which was revealed on Tuesday morning – the collapse below is for junkies – here are three reminders:

1. In the fall of 2023, Big 12 set a four -year schedule matrix to both opponents and locations. Only the order of games for each season was unknown.

2nd Kickoff Times for Matchups in the early season and special date games will be announced in the spring. More games currently set for Saturday could be moved to Friday.

3. A completely fair and balanced schedule is impossible, whether it is Big 12 or the Big Ten, SEC or ACC.

The job of the conference office is to limit the occurrences of competitive disadvantages as much as possible.

After writing extensive about planning Malpractice in the former PAC-12, Hotline has developed a sharp eye for creepy situations.

In our opinion, BIG 12’s schedule is easily suited to a reasonable interval.

Here we go …

-The competition calendar in 2025 gives 14 weeks of play in regular season, giving each team two byes.

However, two Big 12 teams have three byes: Kansas State and Iowa State opening the season August 23 in Dublin, Ireland in the first week 0 conference games in Big 12 History.

As a result, wildcats and cyclones have three in the season.

-Avil of the previous PAC-12 schools (and Brigham Young) play a road game in Texas, which has become increasingly important recruitment terrain now that they are not playing regularly in California.

Arizona State and Utah will visit Baylor; Arizona leads to Houston; Brigham Young takes the trip to Texas Tech; And Colorado gets a Lone Star State Double Dip with games on Houston and TCU.

– Several rivalry games are played in the middle of the season, including the Holy War: Utah visits Brigham Young on October 18, the same day that TCU and Baylor collide. And Sunflower Showdown Matching Kansas and Kansas State are ready for October 25.

(Territorial Cup in Tempe is unchanged from its usual position on Friday or Saturday in the Thanksgiving weekend.)

The dates of October could rank fans who prefer their rivals at the end of the season. But practically trumps the tradition of the era with a conference turnover, and the BIG 12 has to find optimal places for its best inventory.

The Holy War has been played at the end of the regular season just once in the last 15 years. If it was split into this window in 2025, the showdown would be buried in the TV rating game by SEC and the Big Ten rivalization.

But week 8 offers relatively easy competition for FOX and ABC/ESPN Broadcast Windows: Ohio State plays Wisconsin, Oregon Faces Rutgers, USC Visit Notre Dame (at NBC) and Texas plays Kentucky.

Big 12’s rivalry games could have the main windows available.

– Arizona State, the Defense Conference Master, should be largely happy with his schedule.

Sun Devils has well placed Byes (weeks 6 and 11), plays back-to-back home matches in the middle of the season and does not travel to the eastern time zone.

The only difficult task comes late: ASU hosts West Virginia on November 15 and then visits Colorado on the penultimate Saturday. The buffalos come from a goodbye.

– Arizona faces a similar situation: Wildcats host Kansas on November 8, and then make the long trip to Cincinnati the following week. Bearcats will have rested for two weeks.

– Utah and Brigham Young have serious challenges the week after the Holy War. Cougars visit Iowa State while Utes is hosting Colorado.

However, the Buffalos have two weeks to prepare for a sneaky-to-task to Utah after the most emotional game of his season.

– Only a team opens conference games with two consecutive road games: Texas Tech heads to Utah (week 4) and Houston (week 6), but at least Red Raiders have a goodbye.

-TCU has the earliest town (week 2), which is the result of Horned Frogs’ non-conference plan. Colorado has the latest bye: Buffaloes does not have a break until week 8.
