Aga Khan dies at the age of 88

Aga Khan, spiritual leader and philanthropist, has died in Portugal at the age of 88.

Prince Karim al-Hussaini was the 49th and Aga Khan and Imam from Nizari Isma’ilis.

He succeeded his grandfather for the title in 1957 for just 20 years.

A message about his successor like Aga Khan will be announced in the coming days.

In a statement, Aga Khan Development Network said: “His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49. Hereditary Imam from Shia Ismaili Muslims and direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), died peacefully in Lisbon the 4 .
