Chicago Weather: Prognosis freeze rain expected to create smooth relationships for evening commuting Wednesday

Chicago (WLS) – Freezing of rain could create dangerous travel conditions on Wednesday, said ABC7 Chicago -Meteorologist Tracy Butler and issued an Accuweather alarm.

A winter weather counseling is in effect from 1 p.m. 18 Wednesday to 6 Thursday for Chicago, North and West Suburbs. It is in effect from 1 p.m. 16 Wednesday to 7 p.m. 06 Thursday for South Suburbs and Northwest Indiana.

Butler said the worst conditions will be between 7 p.m. 18 and midnight, with some freezing drips that continue early Thursday.

Butler said that ice -accumulations are likely to be less than one tenth of an inch, which could make untreated surfaces smooth.

Temperatures Wednesday are expected to be around freezing for much of the day.

Temperatures on Thursday are heated up to approx. 40, so any ice and gossip accumulation will quickly melt away during the day.

Another storm system on Saturday could also bring a wintry mix to large parts of the area.
