Concert Message: The Weeknd Coming to Edmontons Commonwealth Stadium in July

Fans of The Weeknd now can’t say I was never there as the Canadian singer-songwriter will perform at the Commonwealth Stadium on July 19.

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, the artist professionally known as The Weeknd, plays in Edmonton as part of a North American tour containing five shows in Canada, including Vancouver (July 15), Montreal (July 24) and Toronto (27-28 .

The Weeknd recently released his album called Tomorrow. It is the last chapter of his trilogy that follows after hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022).

It was a record -breaking 2024 for The Weeknd. He became the first artist in the story to have 27 songs with more than a billion streams each on Spotify, according to the Live Nation Canada.

“We are very excited about Edmonton being chosen as a stop on The Weeknd’s Tour,” said Heather Seutter, director of Commonwealth Stadium, in a Friday release.

“Artists like The Weeknd, who appear in our city, play an important role in promoting cultural identity, creating societies and driving Edmonton’s economy.”

Playboi Carti and Mike Dean appear the opening show for the Weeknd on the tour.

Tickets will be sold to the public on February 7 at. 10

Commonwealth Stadium has become a popular place for artists in the last few years.

Last week, Morgan Wallen announced to concert dates (12-13 September 2025) at the Commonwealth Stadium.

Last year, Pink and Metallica appeared for huge crowds at the Commonwealth Stadium.

In 2023, Luke Combs, Metallica and Nickelback appeared in front of Big Country, Metal and Rock Fans, while in 2022 Garth Brooks returned to Edmonton and played two shows, and Motley Crue and Def Leppard shook Commonwealth Stadium with big performances.
