Is Storm aims at Midwest and Northeast. Here is the latest forecast.

A winter storm is expected to bring snow, gossip and freezing rain to a large cut of the midwest and northeast Wednesday and Thursday, causing treacherous travel conditions and potential power breaks for millions of Americans, prognosis said.

According to Accuweather, hot, moist air from the south will collide with Arctic air from the north as a low-pressure system moves eastward-atmospheric ingredients that can trigger accumulated snow and dangerous ice along its northern edge.

“As the mild air mass clash with the freed air further north, the ingredients of a larger ice storm are expected to be in place that begins Wednesday across a zone ranging from the midwest to the big lakes,” Warn Accuweather -Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham.

Up to a quarter of an inch or more of IS is possible in western Maryland, West Virginia and central and southern Pennsylvania, says National Weather Service.

Up to half an inch is possible for parts of the central Appalachians north through Pennsylvania and southern New York, according to Accuweather. The cities facing the greatest risk of dangerous Isaccumulation are:

• Harrisburg, pa.
• Scranton, pa.
• State College, Pa.
• Williamsport, pa.
• Binghamton, new
• Cumberland, Md.

One to three inches of snow are expected in parts of northeastern Pennsylvania, Eastern New York, Northern Connecticut, Western and Central Massachusetts as well as Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine with up to 6 inches or more possible to higher heights.

ICE accumulation could do for dangerous road conditions for those in the storm path, which includes large parts of intermediate states 80 and 94.

For cities along the I-95 corridor, including Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston, a brief period of glaze is expected before a transition to rain.

The same areas of the Midwest and the Northeast can face power cuts as the ice and freezing rain will be followed by cold, Gusty Vind behind the storm.

Wind throw of 40-50 km / h is expected across the big lakes on Thursday, and wind throw of over 30 km / h is possible throughout the northeastern Friday.

“A light glaze of ice cream can create treacherous driving conditions on bridges, highways and ramps in seconds,” explained Accuweather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter. “Half an inch Isaccumulation can add 500 pounds of extra weight or more to power lines. The wooden branches that are coated in ice can click and fall on power lines. “

Stormy Start to February

The IS storm is just the start of what forecasters say could be a stormy February in large parts of the same region.

Behind this system is another winter storm that can bring snow and ice from Upper Midwest and Great Lakes to parts of Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, which begins on Saturday.

A third storm is possible early next week, Accuweather said with “the potential of colder air and more moisture that could bring snow and icy influences to a larger area.”

And February is historically the month with the most blizzards in the northeast. According to Noaa’s National Center for Environmental InformationMore “high influences” blizzards occur in February than in any other month.
