Wausau, Wis. (WSAW) – The potential for snowfall has risen through the northern half of northern central Wisconsin. Thus, a first alarm has been added to tonight and will go through tomorrow. This is mainly for communities around and north of Highway 29. Snow is expected to arrive late tonight; For some communities down the south, the first flurries will fall as you drive home from work. Smooth to snow -covered roads is expected by commuting on Thursday morning. Snow will look up around 1 p.m. 8-9 after the latest.

The second round of snow also has a good chance of becoming a first alarm day. The snowfall potential is higher with this round with snow. In fact, this system has the potential to bring us our highest daily snowfall this season so far. As a reference, the highest daily snowfall in Wausau this season is 4.2 ″ from Monday Morning.

To go with the snow tonight in Thursday morning, we also have Gusty Vind in the forecast after the snow wraps up. Even if you end up with lighter accumulations than you got Monday, the snow will blow around. It will especially blow around in open areas and rural areas. This will affect the wind cooling.
