Storm threatens significant isaccumulations in several mid -Atlantic states, says prognosis

Charleston, w.va. And A winter storm approaching several mid -Atlantic states threatens significant isaccumulations that can cause widespread power cuts and disrupt travel, warned forecasters on Wednesday.

National Weather Service released Ice Storm warnings from Wednesday afternoon to noon Thursday in parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Forecasts of up to four tenths of an empty ice (1 centimeter) in some places could significantly damage trees and power lines, the weather service says. Much of the warning area includes higher heights.

Public schools in some counties rejected classes early on Wednesday due to the nearby storm.

The storm was especially about commuting on Thursday morning with bridges and transitions on untreated roads that were probably smooth and dangerous from freezing rain, prognosis said.

In addition, a flooding watch was released up to Thursday morning for most of West Virginia, and parts of northeast Kentucky and southwestern Virginia, where up to 1.5 inches (almost 4 centimeters) were expected to rain on Earth already was saturated by previous storms.

Before the system moved to the east, most roads in northern Missouri were completely or partially covered with ice on Wednesday morning, while sections of motorways in the Kansas City area were closed when emergency workers cleared several accidents, according to the State Ministry of Transport. Much of the eastern Kansas also freezing rain and icy roads, including in Topka and Wichita.

In Iowa, transport officials warned that freezing drip, which had covered roads in southeastern areas of the state, expected to spread north all day.
