Police are investigating ‘suspicious package’ at Nancy Mace Office | News

Daniel Island – A suspicious package delivered to the US rep. Nancy Mace’s Office 3 February, got a massive law enforcement response, road closures and evacuation of nearby offices to decide only that it was a false alarm.

The Charleston Police on February 4 confirmed that the package was part of a routine, legal delivery.

MACE’s office did not return repeated requests for comment.

While the package proved harmless, the rapid response emphasizes the increased security concerns about elected officials, as Mace, R-Charleston, has said she has been the target of more threats in recent months.

The Charleston police said February 4th that MACE’s staff received a bomb threat in the Daniel Island office last month.

The Republican in the Charleston area has the lighting rod for controversy in recent times and has been exposed to intense setbacks for her efforts to ban transnry people from using women’s bathrooms and changing rooms at Capitol Hill.

Four years ago, MACE’s home and three Daniel Island parks were also vandalized during Memorial Day Weekend. The Charleston police later concluded that it might have been associated with a similar graffiti event that happened on the nearby Bishop England High School, but no arrests were ever announced.
