Do you fancy a brew? Let’s talk it through.

Take time to talk – Student Home, University of YorkWhen we face the carefully curated (and unrealistic) lives presented to us on social media, it can be really easy to believe that we are the only ones struggling with studies, nervous about making friends or worrying about how we are doing.

This Thursday is national time to talk day, so why not take some time to have an honest conversation with someone about how you feel?

You could

  • Arrange some distraction -free time to talk to a friend
  • Contact someone you haven’t heard from for a while and ask how they are doing
  • Try to open up to someone you trust how you have
  • Give an honest answer when someone asks how you have
  • Take a deep breath when you next see someone’s “perfect life” online: 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year

There are also many people at the university that you can talk to about how you are:

Your personal supervisor
