13 First Alarm Weather Day tonight and Thursday

Toledo, Ohio (WTVG) – The 13th first alarm weather team has issued a first alarm day to late Wednesday night to Thursday morning due to freezing rain and some sleet.

Timing: 21:00 Wednesday until 7 p.m. 9 Thursday. Even after the freezing drizzle ends and temps start to climb, it will take a few hours for the ice to melt and conditions improve.

Amount: Most of the area is expected to pick up about 0.1 ″ ice cream, with locally higher amounts up to 0.2 ″ possible, especially south of Toledo. A minor accumulation of gossip is also possible, mainly north of the Maumee River.

Effects: icy roads and sidewalks will be the greatest impact. There is a great chance of slippery roads Wednesday night to Thursday morning. The risk of wood damage and power cuts is low at this time. It usually becomes a problem when the IS lots are over 0.25 ″. If freezing of rainfall over performs, the risk of wood damage and power cuts would increase. Conditions should improve late Thursday morning and in the afternoon as the freezing rain changes to rain, and Temps rises over freezing.

More active weather is expected when we go through the first half of February. Another system will trace through from Saturday to Saturday night and it can bring us more ice. Then another 1-2 systems could bring us some snow the following week … but it’s too early to know how much of any precipitation type we get.
