Investigation opens after the KC Report’s death on award in New Orleans

Kansas City, Mo. (KCTV) – A study is opened in the tragic departure of a Telemundo KC reporter that was on task in New Orleans for the Super Bowl.

Telemundo KC Announced Thursday, February 6th that Adan Manzano, an anchor and reporter of award to cover the Super Bowl in New Orleans, has died. The media offering continues to cooperate with law enforcement authorities as they investigate the tragic event.

Telemundo described Manzano as a true professional and an increasing star that exemplified expertise in his work.

“We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community,” said Steve Downing, KGKC Telemundo Kansas City General Manager. “Our thoughts and heartfelt compassion go out to his family and loved ones in this difficult time.”

Manzano, a native from Mexico City and Topka, served his degree from Kansas State University. He joined Chiefs Television Crew in the early 2024 season as a sideline reporter.

Manzano’s death felt throughout the community when the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas both shared compassion:

We are deeply sad about learning about Adan Manzano-Aguilar’s passing away. Adan was a dedicated sports journalist who covered the Super Bowl for both Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports in New Orleans when this tragedy took place.

Our thoughts and heartfelt compassion go out to his family, friends and colleagues in this difficult time. We will share his obituary as soon as it becomes available.

Adan was so young and full of energy and really covered almost every event in society. So much sad to see this news. My compassion for his family, friends and colleagues.

According to KCTV5 sister station, WibwManzano’s wife died in April as a result of a car accident in Topka. She was a primary school teacher. The couple leaves behind a child, a toddler.
