Emergency state declared to Cabell and Kanawha counties

Charleston, w.va. (WSAZ) – West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey has declared an emergency for Cabell and Kanawha counties due to Thursday’s serious weather.

It will remain in effect for 30 days unless it was completed by the governor.

The emergency state follows heavy rain and high winds leaving flooding, abandoned trees, power cuts and road closures.

As part of the statement, West Virginia Emergency Management Division will be prepared to provide important relief to the distressed.
