Huntington, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Many in the Huntington area treated the wake of heavy rain and flooding from Thursday morning storms.

Randy Holley, who has lived for decades of flooding at Wilson Court in Huntington, said the clean -up process has been known to him.

“This is the house I grew up in and I mean, and frankly I will not stay here now,” Holley said.

New tenants in the neighborhood were not aware of the problem on Thursday morning. A father who requested to remain anonymous said when he finally looked outside, he quickly jumped into action.

“My boyfriend woke me up and was like, see it floods. And I’m like, man it won’t be that bad and I see again, I’ll take about 20 minutes later and it’s up on the car. I’m like oh yeah, we’re going to go, come now, ”he said.

The family’s home is under an apartment complex on a steep hill. The father said with the help of his eldest son, they worked with taking two trips to escape the rising waters while carrying three children.

“My baby was down at the end of the hill, like just off the trestub, and I went back, grabbed him and then on the way up, I just filled him in my jacket, as in my hoodie, and zipped it up and then reviewed just backed back up the hill. “

“I want to be honest, I got really freaked and scared when I first heard it,” said Hayley Fadse.

Fadse said she heard children outside her apartment without any knowledge of flooding nearby and when she went out, she saw what she describes as a super-father.

“I don’t know how he did it, especially with his kids up, I don’t think I could have done it.”

“It was really instinct and got my family saved. We are not dying here, ”said the father.

Fadse said when she looked back on a hectic and tragic morning, was happy to meet new and inspiring friends.

“It was great to find something good in something bad because his kids were amazing. They were able to find some happiness and laughter out of it, ”Fadse said.
