Snow Squall Warning issued, 15 to 20 cm of snow possible

A SNE -SQUALL -ur, which was previously issued by Environment Canada, has been upgraded to a warning.

The potential development of squalls this afternoon could bring between 15 and 20 cm of snow and almost zero visibility due to heavy and windy snow.

  • SULT STE. Marie – Superior East, Ont.

Snow Squalls that develop this afternoon.

What:
Total accumulation of snowfall of 15 to 20 cm.
Almost zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.

When:
Development this afternoon and continues into Friday morning.

Further information:
Snow continues today as a low pressure system moves across northern ontario. In its wake, snow -s are expected to develop this afternoon. Wind throw up to 80 km/h could produce almost zero visibility in heavy snow and blow snow. Snow effect snow is expected to fall to Flurries Friday morning.

Snow -Squalls cause the weather conditions to vary considerably; Changes from clear sky to heavy snow within just a few kilometers are common. Visibility is suddenly reduced to almost zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. The journey is expected to be dangerous due to reduced visibility in some places.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe after -distance.
