Snowy weekend ahead in mn: what to expect

Winter Weather Watches has been issued over Minnesota as the state’s harnesses for a weekend.

Snow in the forecast

What is the next one:

A winter storm hits Minnesota over the weekend, which is expected to bring several centimeters of snow over the state.

Winter Storm warnings, watches and advisers have been issued over the Rocky Mountain region through Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In Minnesota, winter storm watches are issued over the central and southern parts of the state. But it is possible that some stains could be upgraded to Winter Storm warnings moving in this weekend.

Keep an eye on the lint factor

Timeline:

The snow is about to start moving into the state during the night hours on Friday to Saturday night.

In terms of snowfall, we will hone the forecast over the next 24 hours. The early estimate is the area from three to six inches of snow.

Now, if there is a factor that can change everything here, it is the lint factor. Generally, the rule of thumb is that we look for an inch moisture to turn 10 to 11 inches of snow. At this point, our QPF – the amount of moisture available here – will fall. It’s about three -quarters of an inch. But our lint factor goes to about 18 to 1. So less moisture, but we can create more snow because the flakes are so much larger. So you get the light, airy snow, not good for snowball, not good at making snowmen.

After the snow

The other side:

Temps pushes colder after the snow, with heights falling into teens to start the week and single digits before Tuesday.
