Glencliff High School placed on Lockdown, Weapon Search gives ‘No Actual Threat’

Glencliff High School in Nashville was placed on a short lockdown on Friday morning after rumors of a weapon on campus confirm a spokesman for Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPs).

An employee reportedly hears the student “discussing the possibility of a weapon on campus” which promoted them to notify a school’s resource manager. A lockdown was then issued when authorities did a search at the school.

MNPs say that two students were sought with concern and no weapon was found, which added “there was no actual threat to school.”

The lock has been lifted at this time and classes resumed as usual.

This morning, the Glencliff High School Administration received a report from an employee who overheard students discussing the possibility of a weapon on campus. School Resource Managers (SROs) were immediately notified and one of the students was placed and sought. No weapon was found.

The student identified another person, but when administrators and SROs tried to find them, the student had left the classroom without permission. As a caution, the school was placed on the lockdown while the search continued. Within minutes, the other student was found and searched and no weapon was discovered.

Law enforcement decided that although the conversation concerned, there was no actual threat to school. The lock was lifted and normal operations resumed.
