Kevin O’Connell says no ‘decisions’ made on Sam Darnold, Vikings QBS to ’25: ‘It’s a constant dialog’

Darnold balled out one year of $ 10 million in 2024 and completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The former No. 3 overall elections led Minnesota to a 14-3 record, a victory away from NFC’s top seed. Unfortunately, Darnold saved his two worst performances in the end, leaving a bad taste in potential volunteer mouth with a wild card exit.

Behind Darnold this year was McCarthy, who underwent seasonal knee surgery during the forecast and played only an exhibition game for the Vikings. The soon-to-be second-year QB, as O’Connell told NFL Network on Friday, is healthy, this week he said he does not expect to be handed over to the starting job when he is healthy and if Darnold returns to the QB room, adding, adding, That he just wants a “fair opportunity” to start in 2025.

The decision on who will return and start for Minnesota next season is ultimately up to O’Connell, who just signed a multi-year extension in Minnesota, and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Resolution about the case probably won’t come for at least a month when the new league begins.

O’Connell does not look at its abundance of QB options as a question that they need to be stressed.

“You won’t call them problems. They are good things to have as an organization,” said O’Connell Friday GMFB: OT. “When you have quarterbacks that have played well enough for it, yes, of course you would very much like all your guys back. You would very much like these guys back every single year, but they have played so well in our system, in Our organization that they may want to be a quarterback for another team in this league.

“So that’s what this time of year is. It’s a constant dialogue, we have great dialogue with our players and we just want to try to find a way to build the best possible team in 2025 that we can. We have Must be able to finish better.

“None of these decisions are made at this time.”
