President Trump on Thursday announced plans to set up a task force and a presidential commission to protect Christians from religious discrimination.

Trump turned to the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, where he placed several steps that he planned to take to tackle what he described as attacks on religious freedom and especially on Christians.

“While I’m in the White House, we want to protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals and in our public squares,” he said. “And we will bring our country back together as a nation under God.”

Trump said he would set up a presidential commission for religious freedom that “will work tirelessly to maintain this most basic right.”

The president also said he would sign an executive order to make court lawyer Pam Bondi as chief of a task force to “exterminate anti-Christian bias.” The task force will aim to stop “all kinds of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government,” Trump said.
