Australia in Sri Lanka: Steve Smith hits it 36. Test hundred as tourists dominate

Steve Smith hit his 36th test century when Australia dominated Sri Lanka on day two of the second test in Galle.

Smith was not 120 when Australia reached 330-3 on Stumps, a first-in-in-73.

Right -handed joins England’s Joe Root and India’s Rahul Dravid at 36 test centuries – the fifth most in history.

The 35-year-old reached the landmark in 206 laps, the second fastest behind compatriot Ricky Ponting, who made 36 centuries in 200 laps.

Smith’s last hundred came up of 191 balls with nine fours and one six.

He survived a LBW review first ball, with the technology that showed the ball missing the leg stub and overturned another LBW call of 23 when he was out of stump.
