Bright Side Baller: After trade rumors crashes Suns and burns toward Oklahoma City

Yuck. Gross. Choose any superlative you want, but Phoenix Suns did exactly what I expected them to do last night: they shit the bed. And the kicker? I’m not even sure they admit it. It’s like Frank and Charlie again, isn’t? No one owns up to the mess they made. But makes no mistake, that was exactly what Suns did when they were spared by the thunder on Wednesday night.

It was not just another loss, it uncovered a bisar day in Suns-Land. A day that was as weird as the game itself.

The day started with rumors that Kevin Durant could be traded to Golden State WarriorsBut after this deal fell through, it left you and wondered how you feel about it all. Durant has been something of a “get-out-of-fay-free” card to Phoenix, especially considering the tabs they have made in the past, like the Bradley Beal situation. So when I heard Whispers about Durant, who may have landed with Jimmy Butler, I was not exactly sold.

But when it turned out he didn’t come? I was relieved even though I caught myself and wondered: What could Suns have done with that deal? Could it have reset our future?

The trade deadline is today and there is still a chance for Suns to make a step, but right now it seems that they are steady. Chris Haynes tweeted that the “internal hope is improved game” for Phoenix. And right after that, Suns was wiped out.

Enhanced games? This team can’t go three minutes without turning the ball over five times. How exactly do you improve it? For all the talent they have, they are all Thunder is not. Start with discipline.

So now we wait. We twiddle our thumbs and consider the trade deadline while also mulling over who deserves The Bright Side Baller Award. My efforts? For the second time this season, after playing Thunder, a 90s R&B star could possibly go away with some more hardware.

Light side balls season

Devin Booker broke Walter Davis’ scoring record for all the time Monday, earning his 13th bright side balls. But it was not a landslide. Suns made him dirty by not winning the game, and his former teammate Deandre Ayton sniped 14% of the votes from him. 25 points and 20 rebounds in a game will do it for you.
