The Super Bowl weekend is upon us and the sky is clearly looking for the big game on Sunday, but the same can not be said for Saturday as a winter storm is expected to hit.

NBC10 First Alert Weather Team released a first warning to the entire region of a winter storm that was set to bring another round of winter weather Saturday afternoon to Saturday night.

National Weather Service has also issued one Winter weather advisory for the region.

What will Saturday’s winter storm bring?

Expect a mixture of snow, gossip and freezing rain before switching to regular rain in some areas.

The first half of Saturday will be dry, but as a low pressure system moves in, rainfall spreads from south to north in the afternoon and evening.

A quick burst of snow is expected when the storm arrives, followed by a gradual change to gossip and freezing rain in large parts of Saturday night, especially along the I-95 corridor and areas north and west.

The transition to ice is expected to happen gradually on Saturday night.

How much snow can fall?

Snow -Totals of 1 to 3 inches are probably from Pennsylvania Turnpike north into Lehigh Valley, while Philadelphia and South South will look lower quantities, with a coating to an inch possible.

This is not expected to be a big blizzard.

The greater concern can be the ice

When snow transfers to gossip and freezing rain, the accumulation of ice can lead to dangerous travel conditions until Saturday night. A quarter of an empty ice cream (or more) could stay in some areas, leading to potential power cuts.

Clearing for Super Bowl Sunday

On early Sunday morning, temperatures will rise and rainfall will be wound up. Sunday will be partly sunny and dry, but Gusty runs up to 30 km / h will do for a blusted afternoon.

Dry weather is expected to continue through Sunday night and Monday. Then the next winter storm could hit Tuesday, so stay up to date.
