Richmond, Va. (WWBT) – A community is on edge after a man was found stabbed to death at a beloved restaurant in Scott’s addition.

Police say around 1 p.m. 23.58 Thursday, officers were called to the lemon kitchen in India for a reported stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a man stabbed to death in the kitchen.

“I mean, it certainly shakes you up a little, especially by knowing that it happens right across the street,” said a nearby resident. “I looked out the window and there were a lot of police officers and police cars and flashing lights.”

They did not want to be identified but told 12 on your side that they have lived in the area for three years. They go their dog there daily and frequently frequently the restaurant.

“It’s one of our favorite restaurants, so I hope it doesn’t affect too much thing for them,” they said.

Police shared limited details of the incident. Only to say that the man was found stabbed to death in the kitchen and that the weapon used was a knife. Detectives have not shared whether the victim was an employee or what led to the stabbing.

Based on the schedule of their website, the restaurant was closed at the time of the incident.

Miranda Kelleher has been working at the restaurant next door since she was 15 years old. She says they have seen more crime as the area has grown.

“Burglary, stabbing as the next door, spray painting, which you can see there is marking on the building. So it’s just something that is not in the usual, and we feel like in the past year, six months, those things have really gathered here, ”she said.

While she said the stabbing is alarming, she still feels that it is safe and that people should not be afraid of eating in the area.

“Don’t feel hesitant, don’t feel hesitant. Come in, get your pancakes, get your French toast; Everything is fine, ”Kelleher said.
