Kumar Vishwas’ wife cried when Manish Sisodia lost. It wasn’t out of empathy

With TV screens blinking the Manish Sisodia, Arvind Kejriwals trusted No. 2 in the Aam Aadmi Party lost his Jangpura seat in the election in Delhi, said Kumar Vishwas, a former AAP leader, his wife began to cry. Mr. Vishwas then explained that it was not out of sympathy for the AAP leader.

“When we got the news that Manish (Sisodia) lost from Jangpura, my wife, who is apolitical, began to cry,” said Mr Vishwas, a poet and a founding member of AAP.

“When Mr. Sisodia was once told by my wife that ‘Bhaiya, you won’t always be in power’, manish sisodia shot back and said ‘Abhi Toh Hai (I’m in power today), “Mr. Vishwas said, talking about an old conversation, hinting at the arrogance shown by the AAP leader.

Mr. Vishwas said he hopes other parties will learn from this and not be arrogant.

“I hope others do not show this arrogance. Other parties will learn and take advantage of it. I congratulate the citizens of Delhi,” said Mr Vishwas.

Manish Sisodia, jailed in the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy Scam, lost his Jungpura seat to BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah. By 2020, Mr. Sisodia had fought from Patparganj.

Kumar Vishwas reserved his sharp comment on his former party colleague Arvind Kejriwal, who lost his new Delhi seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma.

“I congratulate BJP with the victory and I hope they will work for the people of Delhi … I have no sympathy for a man (Arvind Kejriwal) who crushed the dreams of AAP party workers. Delhi is now free for him .. .

Arvind Kejriwal’s opponents have made ‘Sheesh Mahal’, the supposedly luxurious home, which he built for himself as the main minister, the center of their attack against him. Mr. Kejriwal was arrested just before Lok Sabha election in 2024 for his alleged role in the Delhi Liquor Policy case and sat in prison for five months before the Supreme Court awarded him conditional bail. He retired as chief minister in September 2024 shortly after receiving bail and declared that he would occupy the seat again only after receiving the certificate of honesty from the people of Delhi. This option is out of question now.

Mr. Vishwas also appealed to AAP workers and encouraged them to look after themselves.

“You’ve all worked for someone who stabbed his friends in the back cheated his guru for his personal agenda. Go out and take care of yourself,” said Mr Vishwas.

BJP is far ahead in 48 seats, while AAP on the 22nd majority mark in the 70-members assembly is 36. Congress, to the third equal election, could not win any seat in Delhi.
