Isaccumulation can be significant in Laurel Highlands and Ridges, especially eastern sides and in valleys, where low cold air tends to be the longest. Between 0.25 inches to 0.5 inches is possible. This isaccumulation combined with strong wind will lead to the potential for wood damage and power cuts, especially in the Ice Storm Warning Area. Areas from Route 422 and North to I-80 also have a decent chance to see a little light Isaccumulation on Saturday night, especially if the trail of the low pressure continues to hold. Quantities in this area generally vary between 0.1 inches – 0.25 inches.

Right now, most of Allegheny County seems to be on the cusp of glaze with a tendency to see all rain generally southwest of Pittsburgh to northern West Virginia. This can still change a bit with as much as 30 miles north or south, so people in the Pittsburgh area should still monitor temperatures and conditions closely tonight. The error margin will be large as the immediate metro area will be within a very tight north to the south temperature gradient. If any glaze occurs in Allegheny County and the Pittsburgh Metro area, it will be between 7 p.m. 15 – 21, where northern parts of the subway have a better chance of light glaze than southern communities.

All rainfall ends before dawn on Sunday. This will be followed by Breezy Northwest Winds, Clearing Heaven and a short break between systems on Sunday night and Monday. A rapid moving disturbance will cross Ohio Valley to Mid-Atlantic States next Tuesday to Wednesday. This will bring another chance of some snow to our region with the higher probabilities generally over southwestern Pennsylvania into northern West Virginia at the moment. On the heels of this system will be another wave of low pressure that suddenly approaches from the southwest Wednesday night to Thursday. This can bring a mixed bag of wintry rainfall to the entire region, which will gradually transition to rain when warmer air short moves unfinished pattern for at least the next week and a half.
