Asheville sees the second warmest February start on record with 74-degree high

Asheville set a new record high on Thursday, February 6 and crushed the old record of 71 degrees set in 1938.

The airport recorded a height of 74 degrees.

This would be good enough to either tie or set a record high in 10 other days in February.

It is the hottest temperature of the year so far and we have had plenty of unusually hot weather since a bitter cold start to January.

Asheville has now experienced 12 consecutive days with high temperatures above the average dating back to January 26.

This is the second warmest start to February at the record, where the average temperature is 51 degrees.

February 2020 was hotter to start at 52.6 degrees.
