Canucks’ Quinn Hughes Out vs. Maple Leafs, 4 Nations Status still uncertain

Hughes has missed the team’s last three matches with a non -revealed injury and has not taken care of since January 31.

According to Tocchet, the captain skates hard on exercise on Saturday, and it will be a process over “hours” to determine his availability for the 4 nations Face-off.

He has been named the American list along with his brother, New Jersey Devils tip Jack Hughes, but could be held out if the suffering continues.

“Obviously, the next few hours, whether it is 24 hours or 12 hours, the dialogue has to ramp up, we have to figure this out,” Tocchet said. “Reason, you know, the US will have to name (a replacement) if he doesn’t play. It’s not like we have a few days, it’s hours before the decision steps.”

The reigning Norris Trophy winner leads the league in scoring Blueliners with 59 points (14 goals and 45 assists) in 47 games this season.

Hughes is also Vancouver’s leading goal scorer and has at least one point in each of his last eight games, with five goals and seven assists across the stretch.

Canucks is set to squeeze in an all-Canadian match against Toronto Maple Leafs, with Puck Drop at. 19 ET / 16:00 PT.
