Eagles’ Mailata creates history in Australia as Super Bowl -Master

Sydney (AP) – Jordan Mailata played Rugby League in Australia before taking the huge career -gamble that has now served him a Super Bowl ring.

He became the first player from Australia who started and won the championship when he Helped Philadelphia Eagles beat Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 On Sunday to secure the franchise’s second Super Bowl title.

Born in Sydney, Australia for Samoan parents, Eagles waved the left tackle flags in both countries as he celebrated the victory in New Orleans.

When asked how he managed to take the leap from promising Rugby League talent for South Sydney Rabbitohs to Super Bowl -Master, Mailata Said to ESPN, “Don’t be afraid to tip your toe in the water.

“You have to immerse yourself, you have to drown yourself in that atmosphere – whatever you want to do – learn how to swim.”

He had never played American football until he became a draft Eagles in 2018. Now he is an important part of a master -offensive line for the team.

“It’s just a crazy crazy travel so far,” said Mailata, who played on the losing side of the Super Bowl two years ago. It already put him in a small group of four Australians to play in the biggest game of American football.

Another Australian, Jess Williams, had a Super Bowl ring as part of the Seattle Seahawks program list from 2014, though Williams did not play during the season due to a severe knee injury.
