KSHB 41 WEATHER BLOG | A breakdown on the rounds of snow is expected this week

Kansas City, Mo. – Hi, weather blog readers! Our week of winter weather is underway that begins late tonight with a chance for light snow.

System # 1: overnight – Tuesday Morning

Scattered snow showers are possible late tonight last Tuesday morning. Snow collections are not very impressive as there is a layer of dry air in the atmosphere that is likely to eat away at a lot of humidity. If a snowband is formed over your area, you can expect a track-1/2 “snow. There is also a chance that many wake up to no snow on the ground Tuesday.

Accumulation of snow begins overnight Tuesday after midnight and continues until Wednesday night. The heaviest snowfall is expected from 1 p.m. 5 to 16, accompanied by strong wind, which will reduce visibility. Avoid traveling or driving under these conditions all day. The roads quickly become snow covered.

Snow collections of 3 to 6 inches can be expected for most of our area. Although there is still a chance to see larger quantities of 5-7 “between Kansas City and St. Joseph.

Anticipate lingering cancellations for Thursday, as many roads could remain covered or partially covered when the temperatures dip to the individual digits. Some sunshine could help Thursday afternoon, although heights on the day remain near 20 degrees.

On top of the snow cover, Wind -cooled Thursday morning can be as cold as -10 °!

Friday comes close to freezing with some advantageous melting in front of our next possible winter system.

System # 3: Saturday

There is another chance of accumulation, but the temperatures with this system are a little more uncertain as hot air tries to rise from the south.

Preference can begin as rain or a winter mix on Friday night and then switch to snow before Saturday afternoon when temperatures fall. The faster the transition to snow, the greater the accumulation and vice versa.

First, let’s get through Wednesday’s blizzard, and we decide whether to be too concerned about the weekend storm.
