  • A cyber truck owner says they are losing after the FSD caused a crash on the highway.
  • The driver claims that FSD suddenly accelerated and sent the truck into a railing.
  • They claim that Tesla does not respond so the owner opened a complaint with NHTSA.

Tesla owners across the United States have access to full self-driving (FSD), an imperfect semi-autonomous program. Some owners reject it as the bleeding edge of self -driving tech. Others, such as the cybertruck owner in the heart of this story, think it is incredibly dangerous. They go so far as to claim that it almost cost them their lives.

In a complaint that was filed with NHTSA, the owner says his truck “suddenly accelerated, came out of control and crashed into the railing” while using FSD. They were then able to get control of the truck and guide it to a safe place to stop. “We were almost killed. Please help. “Is how they log out of their complaint. Fortunately, they also report zero damage as a result of the crash.

That said, the owner says there is significant damage to the truck. Despite that, he actually claimed that “Tesla is not responding to my complaint.” That sounds like adding insult to injury. It is worth noting that someone in the same way that anyone on the Internet can write what they want, almost anyone can submit a report like this to NHTSA.

While the agency requires a real wine number for a report, a person could submit completely fictitious information beyond that. There is no reason to immediately believe that this NHTSA claim is false, but it is noteworthy that this report seems to be the only place the owner talked about it online.

Despite searches across other NHTSA complaints, on various forums and groups, we cannot find another example of alleged unintentional acceleration in cybertruck. Either way, NHTSA will undoubtedly be interested in it as it works through a continuous study of Tesla’s FSD technology. It started late last year after several events, including a deadly accident involving the full self -driving system.

For reference is here all, unedited complaint Logged to NHTSA:

“While I was driving my cyber truck on the highway using Teslas FSD (full self -driving). The vehicle suddenly accelerated, got out of control and crashed onto the railing. Fortunately, I was able to control the crash and drove it safely. The truck is severely damaged and Tesla does not respond to my complaint. We were almost killed. Please help. ”
